Top Entry Agitators – Versatile Mixing for All Industries

Powerful, Flexible & Efficient Mixing from the Top Down

Top Entry Agitators are the most widely used industrial mixers due to their versatility and adaptability to a broad range of mixing applications. At JDS MIXING, our top entry mixers are engineered for performance, efficiency, and durability, with customized configurations for everything from gentle blending to high-viscosity agitation.

What is a Top Entry Agitator?

A Top Entry Agitator is a mechanical mixing system mounted vertically on the top of a tank or vessel. The drive unit powers a shaft and impeller inside the vessel, providing controlled and consistent agitation throughout the fluid volume.

These mixers can be used for batch or continuous mixing, making them ideal for applications that require high flexibility and scalability

Working Principle

1. A motor-driven shaft is inserted through the top of the tank.
2. One or more impellers are attached to the shaft to induce flow and mixing..
3. Impellers generate axial, radial, or tangential flow, depending on their design and the process requirement..
4. The flow ensures homogenization, suspension, emulsification, or heat transfer.

Impeller Types

Propeller (Axial Flow) – High flow, low shear; for blending and circulation
Turbine (Radial or Mixed Flow) – Moderate to high shear; for dispersion and reaction processes
Anchor or Helical Ribbon – For high-viscosity fluids and non-Newtonian mixing
Rushton Turbine – For gas-liquid dispersion and aeration
Pitched Blade Turbine (PBT) – Versatile option for a balance of flow and shear
